To make your own exploding rainbows take a plate of milk
Add some food colouring
Then dip an ear bud into some liquid soap like hand wash and then into the milk. Watch in amazement as the soap changes the surface of the milk and the colours mix together.

I could have talked to the kids about the science of detergents and fats or even prattled on about colour mixing, but I didn't. Instead we just played, they never asked why? So we just enjoyed the magic of their exploding rainbows.

I insist that the next time I am there I have a go. I liked the way the mixed colours looked like the surface of some undiscovered planet and the orange one like a close up of the sun. I am going to look for some food colouring in preparation.
Firstly I love how Little Miss's favourite colour is rainbow, that is very cool.
And what a great activity/experiment, and to just let them do it without necessarily "teaching" about it.
Now I see what you mean about rainbows (in my comments) :)
CF I know what Joseph and I are going to do next time we play together!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge dear friend.
Namaste
